Thoralby is a typical quiet Dales farming community with a Post Office/General Store for everyday needs and a Village Inn serving traditional beer & bar meals.

 By car:

From the west. Travelling west along the A684 from Bedale, leaving the A1 at Leeming Bar Services (J51) and following the signs for Leyburn. In Leyburn turn left at the mini round-about following the signs for Aysgarth and Hawes. The A6108 from Masham offers an alternative route via Middleham.

From the east. The M6 joins the A684 at Sedbergh travelling east through Hawes and Aysgarth. In Aysgarth turn right on to the B6160 by the Garage following the signs for Thoralby.

From Skipton the B6265 towards Grassington and then B6160 to Kettlewell through Wharfedale. Follow signs for West Burton and Leyburn. As you reach Wensleydale keep a look out for signs to Thoralby.

SAT NAV. DL8 3SU. A cautionary note when using Sat Nav. - please be careful and make sure you stay on the main approach roads! Sometimes, depending on the settings you have chosen for your navigating device, an alternative route is chosen which can involve narrow roads with no passing places. These can be fun to drive, as long as you meet no on coming traffic and offer some spectacular scenery along the route.

 By bus:

Bus services link Leyburn and Hawes. Most routes stop in Aysgarth or West Burton but some services also pass through the village. It is possible to walk to Thoralby (c.20-30mins) or we can make arrangements with you for the final section of your journey.

 By train:

Northallerton station (c.60mins) on the East Coast Mainline is well served with direct trains from many main line
destinations including Newcastle, Durham, Darlington, Middlesbrough, Thirsk, York, Leeds, Manchester and London. All trains stop at Darlington station (c.60mins), not all trains stop at Northallerton. The final part of your journey is by road, bus and taxi services are available (please confirm the cost before starting out on your journey).

 By plane:

We are within approximately an hour and a half drive of three international airports, Durham Tees Valley, Newcastle and Leeds Bradford. Taxi and private hire services offer local and airport services. Our location is central and  makes an ideal destination for travellers seeking a real taste of Wensleydale and the Yorkshire Dales.
